haha thats terrible but so true..

:smiley_omg: You went there! I can't believe you went there!

Well, seriously, what's the worst she can do?

Having said that, I haven't got away with it until she responds :worried2:

Statistically, men are worse drivers than women based solely on insurance claims. Why? Because men push the limits more than women, making the women slower, more cautious drivers

NO! Women makes us frikken' nuts behind the wheel, causing us to get all stoopid and aggressive! Case in point- driving home from work tonite, stuck behind a woman doing 60 in an 80 zone for no good reason! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

LOL

Maybe you should go work on one of your builds. It's therapeutic.
And then update. :D

Well i could try and defend women drivers but most of them are horrible, having said that so are most men :D

Yes i drive slow in a kart, but i don't want injury's or having to pay for a broken kart. :p being cautious can be a good thing.

So we have progress, took about 4 hours to get the spindles at the right angle so thanks to jman they are all welded and ready to go.

Got the wheels on, just sitting in place for now but should be secure by tomorrow afternoon.

Ground clearance is a little issue but i will worry about that when i hit something...

Now to work on the engine mount.

WOW! Your kart is looking really cool. You must be itching to ride it. Have you decided on an engine yet? I can't remember if you have said or not

Yep, I'm going with the victa 2 stroke, because its going to be really easy to set up. :)

yeah i really want to ride it, i can't wait hopefully only another few days work in it :)

OK so obviously with Christmas celebrations I haven't had much time to work on the kart.

I sat in the kart and saw that the sprocket is 1\4" off the ground which is no good for me because I will mostly be driving this kart on grass. So I have ordered a 70T sprocket which is a 10 tooth decrease and should give me another 1/2" of ground clearance.

All of the steering and front end is complete, all that is left now is the engine mount which is cut and just needs to be welded on.

I am just going to find an old cushion to use as the seat until I get some more funds.

I do have one question regarding sprocket savers, to you guys thing its worth it? Have you used them before. Thanks

Where are you thinking of using one? If you'll be riding mostly on grass, I'd suggest you use some kind of guard on the bottom of your axle sprocket which can be as simply as a strip of 2mm flat bar & a few brackets

Yeah I don't want to damage the axle sprocket. So I could make a guard that just bolts off the sprocket? I would have to makes one that went all the way around.

Umm, can you rephrase that? From what you said, I got "I want it to go right around the sprocket & connect to the sprocket" You can't have both...

As I said, a 40mm wide strip of 2mm steel & a few strategically positioned brackets will do the trick but, if you want it like a U section, that's a bit more tricky...

I mean that whatever I make out of the flat bar will be bolted onto the sprocket. And therefore spin around with the sprocket.

If you mean make a chain guard that doesn't move with the sprocket then I don't think I can make one because I have no where to bolt it.

All I can say is that it will likely decrease your ground clearance further... and to be quite honest, currently i wouldnt want to have my hand under that kart when someone sits in it....its rather low haha

No but a manufactured sprocket saver would add like 5mm I found one just slightly larger than the sprocket I plan to buy. I would rather loose song clearance than destroy the sprocket.

Hi all,
Um the sprocket saver might save your sprocket but probably bust your sprocket hub carrier instead (more $).... and the one you might mount underneath aka flat bar etc. I can see that getting bent and tangled up pretty quickly wrecking things (even more$, unless it is heavy enough to be the keel for the Titanic).

We used to just "walk the track" and get rid of rocks etc. first and stay clear of dodgy areas that might bust bits. After all it is a Kart (and a very nice one:kewlsmiley:) not a buggy....

Enjoy the holidays.....sideways :wai:

yeah thanks for the advice, i was just putting the idea out there because i saw them online. the only place i should be riding it is on grass (i know there is no rocks because i mow it) and down the street which is fairly smooth. so i might just go without and if i run into something then I'm sure the sprocket is the cheapest to replace haha.

I'm glad you like the look of the kart, can't wait to see it once its finished :D
