Crap... Where's it leaking from?

You can't really see it well in the pic, but where the white plastic meets the metal rim/backing, as far as I can tell at least. I started the engine up and immediately fuel started gushing down the side of the blower housing.

Is there a gasket or something in there that you can replace, or hit with a sealant?

Dang is right, if a bit TOO polite, lol.
Those rectangular fuel pumps are no longer available, and for some idiotic reason Briggs specifies the round pump which has it's hose-fittings oriented all wrong for bolting it up in the original position. Stupid, stupid, stupid... but I digress.
Unless you can get lucky and score a NOS rectangular pump, you'll prolly end up like I did and fab up a way to mount the round pump. Post #33 in my sig's build thread has details.
(Grumble, grumble, stupid Briggs thinking any pump'll do...grrrr!)

Y'know- it's circumstances like this that make me long for simplicity. I would NOT spend the $21 on a new pump. I would get all stubborn-like, dig in my heels, and mount the fuel tank a little higher- eliminating the need for the pump entirely.

I don't see how I could mount it any higher, the tank has already been moved once...
I guess I'll have to figure out something.

IIRC, there are 2 different carb float needle / seat assemblies, one for with a pump and one for with a pump - the pump version has a smaller opening.
Not sure what'd happen without a pump, it might starve for fuel at higher rpm operation. Easy enough to try!
I've given a lot of thought to moving my fuel tank WAY higher if/when I move this engine to the yerf-dog kart....

Yup that's just the body of the pump. missing all the internals and back plate.

Wait up, if you can buy the housing as a separate unit, there must be a way to open yours...

I have opened it, I have the insides ans the metal backplate. There are two plastic peices and one metal back plate. It looks like that listing is only one of the plastic pieces.
I'll try to get a pic tomorrow night or Monday.

What product do you guys recommend to seal things? Obviously needs to be able to withstand gasoline. I had an old tube of seal-all, but it had a rip and everything inside solidified. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere!
Other stuff I have tried just can stand up to gasoline (and it is very hard to apply/messy).
I am thinking of trying to seal the bottom of my pump. If I every need to open it again, I could just cut off the sealent. I might get a new gasket set first if I can find one.

Best fuel-resistant stuff I've come across is "Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3 Sealant", IIRC Napa stores carry it.

That is the closest thing I could find at NAPA (Don't want to spend 20 bucks on sealant either). Is that the right kind?
Being a brush applicator, how would be the best technique to apply it? Just rub around the edges of the pump or open it up?
