The green one has got more potential - and will take more work.
Find a 7 or 8 hp motor with a 3/4" output and a TAV and it will go fast. And should mount up without too much hassle.
Find a 13 to 16 hp motor with a 1" output and a comet 40 and it will go real fast. That'll take some more work to make it all fit.

Just depends on what lengths you want to go to and how much you want to smoke your buddies.

me and about 6 other guys at work have karts, or are in the process of getting them, and we just want something to play around on.

Sounds about like me and several of my friends a couple years ago. Back then I'd got my kart all ready to go in just a couple weeks but most of my buddies projects are still sitting around only half finished... :toetap05:

seat is in excellent shape. the only downside to it are a couple of rust spots. but those don't really matter anyway, since i'm gonna sand and repaint

S-600 Thunderkarts are fantastic karts (your kart), the SL-700 model was a bit longer and had an adjustable seat but that shouldn't really matter to you.
