This has been a month in the making from an ugly homemade frame with a 5 hp engine to a more robust frame (strain gaged at work with approx 800 lbs of steel at "weak" points, max stress was about 10ksi) with a 47 + or - a few hp engine.

I've basically made everything I can except for non-fab'able parts like bearings and such.

I've got quite a ways to go before finishing, but the progress is good. I need to find a good braking system, and figure out seat arrangements.

Excuse the mess as I get very little time to work on this so I just leave everything as is when I call it a day.

Thats thing is gonna haul, i think you will need really good bearrings and some wider tires for traction.

ya the tires on there are the cheap hf ones. Been waiting for these wheels i won off ebay for 3 weeks!! He sent me the wrong item so I waited for him to find the wheels...
9.5 in the rear and 5 up front. Should do fairly well for now.

Dude that thing look quick! You can totally tell that it throws you into the seat when you hit the gas! :surrender:

lol, i actually couldn't make it shorter at the time i built it. With this size sprocket and the drive chain cover, it would have** made the chain hit the drive chain cover bottom. I calculated as best as I could, but totally didn't factor in chain slack. So...it was dragging a bit and I had to make a tensioner. NOW...it could be shorter, but eh, I'm fine with it.

But yeah...it is quick, I'm having issues with the clutch so I'm doing clutchless shifting. It throws me back pretty hard everytime i hit the gas, and I definitely need a bucket seat because i get thrown out of the seat when I turned corners around the block.

it is a moto so it has constantly meshing gears? so you dont actually use a clutch past N-1st.

if you chain is to long, cut it and buy a chain link join and make it the required length. they cost like $8

prob buy some air filters.

I'm just using clutchless shifting as of now, sequential gearbox.
nah it's not that the chain is too long, it's just the geometry of the drive sprocket and axle sprocket that causes the bottom to roll on the chain cover. chain has 3/4" play like it should.

as for airfilters, i just put 2 layers of cloth over the carb intake, trying to spend as little as possible.

yea im just saying all shifting is clutchless though, except from N-1st or when stopping really.

the cloth will be fine, but theres a reason they dont come with cloth air filters from the factory. check ebay for some cheap second hand ones, its pretty hard to 'ruin' them.

your drive sprocket and axle sprocket look like they are at the same height, but your engine should be on more of a tilt back wards to remove the play caused by the geometry of the two?

well, thats how it looks to me like you issue could be solved. raise the front mounts and lower the rears.

the carbs should be level upon standstill, yours look to be on an angle. correct that and it would correct the chain issue?

Lol, yeah, i love the gas tank, was thinking about getting a pulse fuel pump, but this was just for testing purposes.

The axle sprocket and drive sprockets aren't on the same level, if you look closely, the top of the chain is level, so obviously the bigger sprocket is lower. As far as tilting the motor backwards, the engine is as level as it would be on the motorcycle frame it came off. Also, the carb is tilted a little, but that's just how it is on the motorcycle frame.
