My boat wont start!

the last time I tried to turn it over, there was the quietest "clicking" or even a hum of sorts, yes it is 3 am AZ time and I've woken up and can't go back to sleep, the thought hit me, there was a TON of moisture on the motor when I decided to try to start her up weeks ago

since the starter was lacking it's usual vigor- and now doesn't work, I wonder if I burnt the starter motor trying to turn over an engine with water in the cylinders

so I'll pull the starter motor and have it bench tested, if no good, then replace, I'll then pull the spark plugs and try to turn it over...

It's love and hate isn't it?! Went ahead and took the battery to AutoZone, sure enough- dead, bought a new one. After connecting it, praying, cussing and fussing, she started up! I was yelling "woohoo's" Richard Rawling's style and neighbors came running out to see what the hollering was about.

I could've tried this originally but I always believe the worst. For me it's rarely as simple as a dead battery.

Now the trim motor is acting up. It is working intermittently and I suspect it has to do with new neutral lock out bar I installed recently, possibly cut in to the wires. Unless someone has a reason why that trim motor would work intermittently then I will take it the throttle lever apart again and see if I can reroute the wires or relocate the switch entirely.

Batteries can appear to have a full charge but simply not put out enough amperage as they age. Do you have any suitable batteries to try jumping it?

I pulled the switch apart and the green and blue wires have some exposed areas. They are both have continuity with ground. Makes me wonder if there is a short, or some bad relays. But then again, I wasn't getting 12V+ from the red wire when pushing the buttons so that could be it... all fuses are good though...

And another simple fix! I started tracing the wires, wondered why all the fuses are good and no power. It has a breaker. I did trip it by pinching the wires with the new lockout rod. So now I am relocating the front momentary switch AND adding a momentary switch to the stern so you can raise and lower the trim while looking at it!

I was skeptical of these momentary switches at O'Reilly's but I am so glad I got them. They look bad on the stern!
