i used to be into the honda car stuff (swaps/turbos/etc)
and i know that the dseries engine and tranny are pretty small but they can put out 100hp per liter if you give it more air and a good header/ecu
they run on very little and you can make good power out of honda engines.

d16 engines are a dime a dozen. people sell them for $100 sometimes. motor/tranny.
bridgeway in moline always has tons of hondas and they are cheap too.
i almost went this route actualy.

nothins really wrong with the stepside , it was my daily driver back in highschool. i bought it cheap and my dad and i put together a nasty 460 for it , needless to say it was close to show quality when i first got it but its taken its beatings over the years and now it just collects dust in my garage. its fun to drive but only gets 2 mpg's , compared to my black diesel that gets 20 mpg's intown and its a no brainer.

im slowly gathering parts to make the stepside a all out mud truck ( 2.5 ton rocks, 56" tractor tires , 4 link ) because i parted out and sold the mud duck the end of last summer

i considered going this route also but the frame i started with would never hold up and i don't think the motor and trans would fit without sticking way way out of the body. its gonna be hard just to get the kawi motor and trans to sit under the body. i also considered a 3cyl motor from a geo metro

im tyrin to rush as much as my bank account will allow to get both carts done and get all the bugs worked out before winter . me n some friends will be hittin up the trails at the harbor every weekend when they are done and the ice track every night when winter rolls in.

if i didn't have to restock my new garage with tools , torch , welder , tubing bender , drills , grinders , etc. i would be smooth sailing on both projects but i still have a lot of tools to buy before i can get too much into them. im just tryin to buy all the parts i will need while i stock up on tools so when i have what tools i need i can dig in and get em done:wai:

by chance you know about GM stuff?
geo metro/ chevy cavaleir. did they have solid rear axles since they were FWD?, and since they were low budget cars i doubt they had independent rear suspension

i don't follow gm at all , blue oval is only brand i deal with . as far as i have ever seen cavy's and metro's are all independent front and i didn't think they were solid rear but its possible , i thought they had something similar to the twin i-beam 2wd fronts on ford trucks through the 70s 80s and mid 90's . its pretty much a cheap and simple ifs

There is absolutely no way that engine is going to make it into boost

we'll never know now. the briggs motor is going bye bye, monday im picking up a 1100 cc shaft driven v-twin for it , the kawasaki 550cc 4 cyl that i was planning on putting in this project is going into my paddle tire cart build.

I have, sitting in my father's garage, four 28" tires mounted on Jeep wheels, just waiting to hook up to the 6.5 hp engine I bought. Gearing gearing gearing. I thought I'd be ridiculed. But then I just saw and read through the 15 pages of this thread. My build will not have any shock factor at this point! Thanks, mudduck! lol

haha sorry , sounds like a good start to a build though ! yea its crazy to that theres 15 pages on this build so far and the thing can't even move under its own yet! my garage is so cluttered right now i can barely even get to the cart. i did some wheelin n dealin and now i have 3 three wheelers , 1 four wheeler , and 2 go carts in my garage . and they all have plans set for them so needless to say im very swamped at the moment but im buying the new engine for the monster cart tomarrow and hopefully next week ill be buying the trans for it then i can get back to work on it
