My 1st hand/home built go kart!

It's been forever since i've been on here,(don't mind the dates on the pics thier wrong, the pics were taken today 3-3-10) but this is it so for, waiting for the weather to get warmer so i can paint. taken me 6 months to get to this point!

I'm using a hand style clutch with a belt tensioner! It will rip the tires off at a stand still, and does about 20-25mph!

I was waiting for someone to tell me what i did wrong, being this is my first build w/o plans, and with very very little advice! Don't hold back!! lets hear it

Wrong? Not sending it to me for thorough analysis, that's what you did wrong. Actually, it looks pretty good!
1) Is that a pulley bolted to your axle sprocket, and why?
2) What is the turnbuckle for, the one that's visible in front of the axle sprocket?
3) I've never seen a green belt before. What's that all about?

You could put some Castor in your spindles. But it looks like a fun rig.

(1)the pulley on the axle sprocket was plan A, I thought i could go all belt! but i found a 10t sprocket that fit so i went with that, better choice in my opinion! It needs to come off!
(2)the turnbuckle is a brace for the jack shaft there's two of them , and plus it helps adjust so the chain run smoothly! when i engage the clutch or pop the clutch, It will bend the 3/8" bolts that mount the jack shaft w/o it! i hinged the seat to get to one of them! and needed to make a guard for the jack shaft! it sits about an inche away from the seat!
(3) it's a Napa heavy duty lawn and garden belt, in my opinion takes sec place to kevlar, at half the cost

well i had them on my Murray GT for about 5 yrs! and they are still holding up fine, they are turf saver II! I wanted to go with something with very little tread, easier around corners with a live axle! I had no problem going through 3-4" of snow! turning...that i had a problem with! problem was i could'nt! just kept going straight!
