well as i said in the introduction, after a few atempts i started a build a very difficult one if i say so, lots of cutting and redoing, and as requested. i will up load a stage by stage album to keep all of you posted, and please any ideas would be awesome

well i have 127cc briggs motor but just got the news we here in sa dont have lot of stand alone gearboxes so i might be forced to loof or something else

I have a place here in town that services motorbikes and quads. He is like a backyard mechanic type guy, and he always has loads of spares. Ask around at motorbike places by you to see if you have someone like that in town. I have included a pic or two of my guys place. He has lots of quad things as well

As for your engine. 127cc is quite small. Is it a bike engine or something like a generator/pressure washer engine. Post a pic of it. With you saying that there are no gearboxes, I am assuming that it is a normal engine you would find on a lawnmower etc. Does it look something like the engine I have posted a pic of??

There are one or two places you can look for centrifugal clutches. One is www.grogro.co.za, and the other is www.checkmateproducts.co.za. Checkmate is in Brits, an Grogro is in Pretoria. I am not too sure if R200 a shock is a good price or not, cos I have never priced them, but check all the places in town for wrecked quads etc. Ask around at bike repair places

I would post some pics of what you have already so that we have a better idea on how to help.

the motor looks the same as the very last pic of the motor on the green container it is a normal briggs and stratton motor with side shaft got it of a guy for a bottle !st watch wiskey lol

look its a prototype and if it works i will fit a bigger motor later on its actualy just for my son to keep him busy on weekends and out of the drugs and satanist groups that seems to grow like wild fire around here

the frame couple of changes in between

so if you see something to better it please advise now the next struggle is the rear with drive shaft etc

the steering rack was tricky took a pice of flatbar had to cut it so it could fit into a 22mm sq tube welded a bicycle chain on to it fitted it in to the sq tube attached the push rods on the sides cut a piece out in the centre of the tube used a small bicycle procket to turn the chain inside the sq tubing

I really hope that little wheel you have there is not going on the kart!!

The engine that I showed you is a Briggs 3.5HP engine. As long as you gear your kart correctly you should be OK. You won't be going very fast though.

I suggest you look at steering geomerey while you are at that stage. Have a look at THIS thread regarding Ackerman. It is quite important

i did read up that section where you guys had that discusion so there ! change i need to implement still and that would be to adjust the caster and camber

speed is not realy a issue but the head was skimmed by a pro shop here apparently it will have a slightly better kick than the standard 3.5

oh and yes the motor i have is the 3.5 HP
