A little about me... I've been in a "mechanical" field my whole life now..I'm 47 and still love anything with a motor...literally.. I bought this kart from a guy and I should have been a little more attentive to it prior to buying. Anyways it did t run after he removed the governor. He didn't know why I knew his knowledge of anything mechanical was really a short . Well turns out he didn't pay attention and the push rods drop out from under the rockers...no problem...fixed it 1 pul starts right up... next he had little bitty tires in front.no turning it is what I found out...I put the original tires on it... then it was ok... and then I happened...I remembered I hada gx160 in my basement...it happen to have the small combustion head... built the new muffler and then I looked at the kart and I happened again... it needs at least a swing arm rear end....ill update more after. sorry it's kinda randomish because we'll I didn't think of doing this and showing it. The hing is 5/8" steel bar the little ones are actual spacers...but 1/2" black pipe for gas is 5/8" and fits in perfectly. I'll put grease zerks in before I'm done but it is solid...I'm having to redo the rims for it... they welded a split rim together in the Hub ...I can't tell you how much this guy irritates me after seeing what I've seen...so currently I'm wire wheeling the rims and re powdercoating them...yes that's a Brinkman propane smoker. Next I will mock up the roll bars so they can be welded on and so I can set up the rear shock mounts. This is going to end up a nice little mini rail buggy I think...

So I had a couple old cub cadet rear fenders and it hit me they would be sweet front fenders for this. The rear fenders were the original fenders I just flipped them and cleaned them up and repositioned them to fit "better".. the motor is a 212 predator with a gx160 head, rocker and push rods. I powdercoated the air filter and valve cover I think I'll do the recoil cover and cv clutch in yellow also.I fired it for about 2 seconds to make sure it would... From what I have read it, would have been 8.5:1 compression factory. With the head change it went to 10:1ish.. I am not sure I want to leave that in it... it is after all for my 3 yr old..🙄 I'll post more as I go.next repositioning the motor plate and install the rear shock mounts and moving the jackshaft and installing the new rear gear and brake disc... this has been a fun little build so far honestly... 20210730_235949.jpg

Well some progress... waiting for shocks to arrive... got clutch aligned and installed and drive chain I plan on putting a tensioner in it but that's later down the road. Did some more powdercoating on the motor and installed the brake caliper and disc new throttle cable... yes the adapter for the carb is 2 pvc end caps with a piece in between held together by 2 screws sealed with black electrical tape... everything else gas rubber o rings... lol I added 2 more bearings to the axel because of me moving the drive gear and the addition of the brake disc...see oh I powder coated the hubs yellow too..all the black and yellow... the yellow I was told will make it go faster... 🤣

Only car to blow its own doors off at Daytona

Iirc tranny bolted to rear-end and no driveshaft.

Built to piss off and beat whiney Shelby after Stealing the cobra body, it was built with off the shelf GM parts.

Cheatas Always Win! Three hundred and seventy seven cubic inches of Chevrolets finest. Just a unjoint between the Muncie Rock Crusher and the Vette rear end. Killed Cobras on sight.

You ain’t the only one! There was a guy in Hammond who raced one of the originals for Bill Thomas. Can’t remember his name. I met him when I worked for Buick, I was working on his or a friends car. I had my big block Elcamino sitting in the stall next to his car. We got to b.s.ing and a few days later he shows up at work again with a handful of pictures. Needless to say I believed him after that. I also worked with a guy who crewed for Dick White on his NASCAR team from about 62-70. He gave me his Plymouth team jacket from 1964 when I bought my 70 Plymouth GTX.

Are "diy'ing" the powder coat or pro setup? If diy type what gun and powder. Looking great by the way
Sorry been distracted by life literally.... it's a harbor freight but honestly it works like the pro powder coating units I've used. It's just the same. I been using eastwoods line...the chrome is awesome....

Oh some more pictures of it's journey so far...I'm trying to have the first start up since I went stupid on it last winter...see what not letting me go to work and locking me to my house does...the motor is in driveshaft is in brakes are in. Transmission is in... got 18.5x9 on the rear now...putting the rear tires in front tomorrow and wiring up battery lights and starter... hook up the gas tank and hopefully it still runs....if not I bought a kv1000 motor....no...I wouldn't...would i?20210903_124110.jpg20210905_220532.jpg20220313_213221.jpg20220322_122324.jpg20220327_174533.jpg20220403_211334.jpg

I did get the rack amd pinion steering figured out...and I made the steering wheel movable so a single driver or a passenger can go too.
