Just picked up this hard drive, my issue is the previous owner had drove it so much the key came out from the sprocket/drum brake and looks to have friction welded or just major rusted, to the axle. I have let this soak for 2 days now in pb blaster, wd40, and I have heated it up with a torch and did the rapid cool down with water, but can not get this think to move, I just need it to do a 1/4 inch move so I can put the key back in, any suggestions?

I have dealt with that exact problem... It isn't pretty....
Did you use an acetylene torch.... Cause that's about the only one to get it moving...
I see the hub has been mashed pretty good... That might have cemented that in now, with or without heat...
You also might need a puller... And some long jaws...
Sadly that shaft looks pretty beat aswell...
Overall if a press/puller, or other means aren't available... A new axle might be needed...

Is the smashed up hub from you trying to move it?

It appears the keyway has been smashed into oblivion. You'd likely have to get it completely off and at the very least get inside the bore with a file and reshape the keyway.

As mckutzy said, an acetylene torch is the right tool to geat this thing off. A regular blowtorch (even a real nice one) won't get it hot enough quick enough for it to work. If you still can't get it to budge, you may just have to cut it in half to get it off, and replace it.

Unless the axle is actually bent, you can probably clean it up enough to continue using it. Sand the whole thing with Emery cloth to get the rust off, file any high spots flush, and use files or a small abrasive wheel (like a Dremel or die grinder) to clean up the shaft keyway.

Yes I have beat the heck out of it, before I looked for replacement, bad idea, for the life of me, I can not find a exact match, the sprocket and brake drum is 1 piece, both are 6 inch diameter, the biggest that could fit for the sprocket would be a six and a half inch diameter because of where the band brake mounts,, the axle is not bent. Even removing the wheel is requiring me some new wheels. I'll try the acetylene torch first

I just ended up leaving it where it's at, without the set screws, maybe over Tim it will loosen itself up, worst that can happen I buy new axle, I will still post some more photos soon

If you get it all up and running, and keep squirting penetrating oil on it, just take it out and rag on it. It will eventually break free from the cyclic loading. And if it doesn't, who needs a key anyway?

Hopefully it breaks free while you're accelerating, vs when you're stopping... So be careful, but it will eventually work itself loose I bet.

Ya.... the last time I had that... It was my brakes... Threw a key... Went cruising.... Tried to stop... Was going about 60kph....
After the motor was killed still took a ways to stop via the flintstoning method.... Mind you this was on a bike.... But I wore a pretty good flat in my boots trying...

First time, the wheel hub welded to the shaft when it spun, when the brakes were applied...

I put a new motor on mine, had to raise it up 2" and put a torque converter on it. Cut the old sprocket and brake drum off. It takes some work but it makes it a much better kart. I can send some pics of mine later. And I also found that the original sprocket is too small for such a heavy kart with the addition of the TQ. Also had to modify the engine mount plate so it can take a bigger sprocket.

Yes deffinatly, if you have pictures of what you have done please send them, I don't know how long this sprocket is going to last, it is pretty chewed up. And the disk brake would be a great upgrade for me.
