A little update to the original thread...

http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=34444

I finally got the kart back together. Not a bad little buggy, but it doesn't like the hills. I may have to look at a different gear ratio. And, the brakes suck. I've cranked them down about as much as I can, and they still marginally slow it down at best.

I am at 6:1 now (10 on the shaft and 60 on the axle), and I'm not sure there is room to go much bigger on the axle without having clearance issues.

I'm also getting a little chatter and slipping in the clutch/TQ (?) on the motor when on the hills. Is that something that I might be able to fix with new weights?

It seems very loose...but there isn't any adjustment...at least I don't see how it can be adjusted. The plate the motor and shaft are on don't have slotted holes.

It's the one listed for the kart...but it seems long to me as well. Like I said, it doesn't appear to have any way to adjust it.

Thank you. I'm not saying that it's the wrong one, but it is the one listed for the Kart. I will definitely measure and check the website you listed.

I have cleaned the TC (one on the motor?), that is, I took it apart wiped everything down and made sure everything was moving freely...not sure if there is anything else to it or not.

explorer, Just buy a generic one from Ebay. They are cheap and work fine.

well my kart has the part by the seat but not the belt up by the head so I was trying to be cheap and just find the part that bolts up by the head,
I haven't found a part number yet to search for,
do you think the cheap ones on ebay will connect to mine?
