I just bought a Murray Explorer for my son, for $50...we put a Tec 6 horse on it...runs fine..but the rig has no torque converter. I am not sure which to purchase...or just part it.
The sites don't specify for the Explorer...this is a 60503X92. The engine shaft is 3/4..but I cannot tell what the jackshaft is...see, n00b. Been looking for a Murray manual, found some part sheets...nothing specific as to size...
Can a TAV2 be used? or better to just throw on the separate parts?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Almost :D
The Murray comes with a torque converter originally, right?

So what you need is indeed a Comet series 30 TC (or clone)
Not really the TAV2 Kit (or clone as the one in the ebay link)
You need to know the jackshaft diameter though, since there are two sizes;

Also you will have to know the distance (center distance) between your PTO and the jackshaft to find a matching belt.

Still a set can be bought at ebay, or a CL or something, but take care of the belt length.

[EDIT]
So a little google-foo later:

30 Series Driver Unit, 3/4" Bore; Comet 219552A
30 Series Driven Unit, 3/4" Bore, 7" Dia ; Comet 219464A
30 Series Belt, Comet 203597 (that'd be center distance of 9 13/16 to 9 7/8)

please verify the jackshaft size and the center distance.

You can find the parts on gokartsupply.com, mfgsupply.com or even amzon or ebay...
If you need further assitance tracing them, let us know
