Murray Explorer project

Picked up this Murray explorer A couple days ago, put a new motor in and rode it a little until I figured out I had the wrong belt well since I'm waiting for a belt I might as well tear it down to clean up , replace anything and paint. Pics of the progress as it comes along

Yup, belt will get there first, but at least the kart will look great when it is all back together

it probably wont take me too long. It only took me about an hour to get it tore down to what it is now.I only work until 12 in the afternoon so that gives me the rest of the day to work on it. ill finish tear down today and get it pressure washed and ready for primer then paint should be tomorrow or the next day

Tore it down to frame then washed it up with the pressure washer. I got about half the frame down to bare metal using a wire wheel and it started raining

Don't you hate that? The weather (&, more recently, a broken ankle) has caused the biggest delays on my build

Yes I do hate that lol we have had a good bit of rain the past couple months. Sorry to hear about your ankle I know that has to hurt. What are you building if you dont mind me asking?

I finished up stripping the frame today as well as making a modification to the gas pedal mount. Before it would fall straight back. I took a piece of flat stock and cut out the L shaped piece to weld on the mount. It works great now!! The pedal doesn't fall back anymore and the spring on the rod has tension now so it comes back on its own

Painted the frame today. Its a gloss apple red and I'm doing the cage,pedals,rims, and seat black with the red and black predator engine. think its going to look very sweet when finished!!

I was thinking about that when I was getting paint lol . Most of the time you see everyone do it black and I haven't seen to many red karts

That's what I mean, just about everyone does their kart black &, as a result, it's so passe...

I've seen a few red karts & they look good because they're different...

How many have you seen in blue?

thats exactly why I went with red to be different. Actually my neighbor has a blue clark mfg single seater lol but its an ugly shade of baby blue. I wanted to go with blue being that its my favorite color but the red just stood out

Got the cart back to a rolling frame today. The belt also came in . I was hoping to have been done by the time the belt was here but I caught a cold and was in the bed all weekend

i was lucky to have finished up with everything i had to do lol so i took it easy and tried to get over this before friday. im leaving for vacation to florida then and id rather not be sick
