Murra Nitro X rear axle replacement

II have a Murray NitroX that needs a new axle and all components. The original 3/4" axle seems to be near impossible to get the wheels (3/4" keyed slide on the axle type, 1 with a flange for the sprocket and brake).

Here's what I would like to do: Put a 1" axle (42" long) in the offset 29" axle tube. The tube sticks out from the frame 1" on the engine side and 3 3/4" on the other side. I have found a 1" axle (42" long with 1/4" keyway across the entire axle) and flanged bearings that will allow it to go into the axle housing tube. My main concern is compatible wheels, hubs, sprocket, and brake for this installation. I do not want to relocate the engine from it's current position (Sprocket and brake mount on the axle outside of the frame). I would like 6 x 4.5 rear wheels, preferably one piece steel. It's the sprocket/wheel/brake location that has me stumped here.

Am I the first person to try this? I have been waiting 2 weeks for some help from a kart shop... 2 weeks... "They are working on it". Nothing?

Can anyone recommend a number of a shop that is willing to help (Yes, I am buying wheels, hubs, axle, brake, bearings from them).

I thought this should be quick and easy....

Check out my post. I went to a local steel mill and for $7.00 they cut me a 3/4 straight piece.
Then I drilled out 1/8 size holes for bolts with the same hub. Basically get rid of the stock rims and hack saw off the hub. Get rims from a tractor and bolt them on also. Make sure you buy auto bolts I believe they are number 8 strength from a home depot. So far with me and my son over 300 lbs plus the weight of the cart up hills and down no problems it will work. Seems like a lot of work but I saved the original idea of a solid axle.
