Manco cart blah blah, 5hp Briggs blah blah, straight pipe and bald *** tires. What a piece o crap. Has a bent spindle on the left front. Doesn't turn well or accelerate thru left turns. Did I mention it is a piece o crap? I paid 35 bucks for it. In turn put a 23 dollar pipe on it, 38 dollar belt, and paid 5 bucks to have the carb sonic cleaned and a diaphragm installed. I have sunk at least 12 bucks in trying to get the throttle to not hit the right tie rod. Somewhere's around 14 dollars in spray paint and I think that may be it. Enjoy

Seems like a good cart and you didn't put too much $ into it so it's all good. :)

It will be a better cart when it will accelerate into and thru turns. I just need to see a few other set ups for pedals and steering components so I can get this fixed. Im stumped

I'll get some pictures of that tomorrow. I know it has to be something small that im over looking. It never had this problem up until I changed the throttle cable. It had a choke cable before and it would never stay connected

Here is the throttle pedal dilemma. How would you guys go about fixing this?
Throttle at idle with wheel turned to the left

1/4 throttle with wheel turned

WOT wheel straight

A crappy pic

And for good measure....at the carb

I'd add some sort of pedal stop so it cant push down far enough to touch the tie rod. (this could be something as simple as installing a hose clamp around the pedal arm or stop, and positioning it so the clamps screw portion acts as a stop extender.

Then re-adjust your throttle cable as necessary to both idle and fully open the carb. If you cant get the cable adjusted to work corectly with the limited pedal travel, try instaling the cable in the top hole or you could even drill a higher hole if necessary. (make sure your cable is adjusted to fully open the carb at the exact point the pedal hits its stop)

What about just moving the pedal back a bit? So then you have a full range of travel.

Also, why did you put bends into your header?

I say your pedal has been bent - someone probably really pushed hard on it at some
time. I'd take it off and see if it couldn't be bent a little more upright, it doesn't need a
whole lot it looks to make it clear.

I cant move the pedal backwards any, it will hit the main frame of the cart. The "header" was a simple exhaust pipe that we were playing with. The pipe is flanged at both ends. I still have the straight section, just need to put it on. As far as the pedal being bent, I'm not too sure about that. The brake and gas pedal seem to be the same. I almost have the cable situation under control. It's just that the cable seems to slip out of the ends that I have crimped on

2 of your pics above show the (gas pedal side) spindle arm is bent upwards an inch or so higher than the brake pedal side... If you straighten that bent arm your tie rod should clear the gas pedal fine, might end up steering better too.

For a $100 total investment (or so) that looks like a lot of fun, even with a few bent things and some quirks.

The brake side spindle is bent backwards but has been like that since I bought it. I knew that and thats the reason it steers so crappy. Like stated before though, the throttle issue didn't start until I tried to correctly fix the cable, not just have a choke cable hanging around lol

I think I`de just put a new piece of straight flat bar on there with a 90 degree bend at the top for your foot to rest on , that pedal you have is got too much angle downwards as it goes forward resulting in it hitting the tie rod , change that pedal out and straighten the spindle ,,

Word, I got home from work and stared at this beast and said hmmm, don't I feel like a jackass. I took my 3lb hammer and channel locks and straightened up the pedal just a tad, and took the tie rod from off the top of the spindle and placed it on the bottom. No more pedal interference. Also took said hammer and persuaded the spindle to straighten up it's act too, in which it did. I then adjusted the throttle and I think we have a winner. I then proceeded to do some victory donuts in my backyard. Hooray for me!!! lol
