Muffler

Whats something that flows good and makes power but is about as loud as a typical lawn mower ? Not wanting the full loudness of a straight pipe. I don't particularly have my own place to ride, so it would be just wherever I could find and I want to keep it as low key as possible.

I was considering maybe using a small car muffler, like a turbo muffler ($20 new). Can't beat the price.

^ yeah just a minute ago I got inspired and I went and held a car muffler up to my cart. It sounds freakin awesome!! it sounds really low and doesnt sound all poppy

what about using an old factory dirt bike muffler?
they have fiberglass packing that should quiet your kart down nicely

or if you want to basically not hear it run, grab a muffler off a golf kart

well given the choice between a car and moto muffler i'd take a car muffler, but aesthetically it may be less appealing. second hand car muffler in working condition would be easier and cheaper to locate aswell.

grab a used factory gsxr muffler or something

If you're running one of the smaller B/S engines (2-4hp) try running a 12" straight pipe to a plumbing adapter that expands to fit the B/S large muffler (the 8hp one). It flows really well, and only a little bit louder.

my son just got a used cart. pretty cool but loud. i know very little about this stuff except it has a b&s engine with a 3/4 in 9i think) straight pipe that connects to alonger curver 1 in pipe. it has a small b&s muffler on the end. i was hoping for a quieter solution.
