Here is another project I finished not too long ago. It's something that every garage needs. A motorized mechanics creeper. It's a hybrid between a Craftsman mechanics creeper, a 2.5HP 80cc Harbor Freight motor, and Harbor Freight 8.5" pneumatic wheels / casters. it goes 30mph and it's completely safe. This was engineered with a two bar steering linkage with friction damper. Here is some youtube video footage and some pictures. No brakes, you just put your feet down to stop. This thing only weighs 40lbs total.

Shouldn't you have some sort of shield over the engine in the event of a failure? Taking a rod/flywheel chunk to the skull/testes(pending on your riding style) would suck. Think of it as a really heavy backrest.

Jayzus .... needs a footrest. Your feet would get awfully tired in the air at 30mph .... I would've moved the engine back about a foot to keep my head off it. Ditto on the headrest - that would hurt .... Could you please show a better shot of the drive wheel? Am thinking about using that kind of setup in the near future. I'm also interested in how you did the steering and throttle assembly.

Okay, SO .... you've built a reverse trike, you've built a hot rod mechanic's creeper ..... now you need a motorized shop stool.

The moto-creeper was actually my first "go kart" build. My goal was to really keep it looking like a mechanics creeper with a motor strapped to it. (Compact and light / hidden controls / hidden steering) It's more about form vs. function. People love it though. It will most likely be at the Milwaukee World of Wheels this year. Only one in the world.....so far.

No brakes. You just put your feet down to stop. The thing only weighs 40lbs with the motor. I think it would stop even slower if I put brakes on it. The tires would just lock up and slide.

could we please see a shot of the underside of the creeper? I'm interested in seeing how you set up the throttle and steering underneath ...

Had a thought about a footrest. Set up a T-bar that could be retracted underneath the board by pulling a couple of pins and sliding it into a tube. When you want to ride, pull the pins, slide the T-bar out, and drop the pins back in.

:auto:This is one kewl rig.and dude you got way to much time on your hands.I bet you drive your wife nuts.."Go kid..go go go creepah" on the real side, I've built Go Karts and never thought of a creeper kart. My most memorable was a 3cyl,750cc 2 stroke Kawasaki Used the trans and Disk breaks only on the rear.it did not stop real well..with out down shifting like a mofo.Garden tractor tires and wheels on a square tube frame..off the hook
I've allways had too much time on my hands..:auto:

That is really neat. There was one similar to it in Hot Rog mag a few years ago except it was lower to the ground and had a 2 smoker dirt bike engine.
