I just got a project go kart gave to me. It does not have a motor. I saw this motor on cl, guy said it ran great and i can hear it before i buy...however..would this motor work? it doesn't have a spring for the throttle...its a lever, so how would i make the throttle work?

told me i could have it for 50

As long as the shaft is not tapered it will work.

As far as the throttle, you loosen it up and have a bracket next to the lever and run a cable up to it in the direction of lever travel. Drill a hole in the lever and attach the cable. You will also need to mount a kind of stiff spring that the cable goes through the pushes the lever so that it is closing the carb. You mount this spring between the bracket and the lever. When you push the gas, it will pull the lever to open it up and when you let off the gas the spring will push it back to close it up.

Thanks man I figured it would be like that or a spring on the pedal. Dumb q. Im new to this stuff. What does the tapered shaft look like vs the other type of shaft so I know?

a tapered shaft is hard to adapt a clutch to. heres a tapered shaft.....

You will have trouble with that engine then. You would either have to replace the crank shaft with one that does not have a tapered PTO, or you would have to get an adapter made. Both are pretty expensive options. I suggest you look for another engine.
