I would appreciate any help with this. I have a 6hp Tecumseh motor on my yerf dog go kart and the accelerator and brake both froze up. Neither of them will move. Any ideas on what it is???? The go kart is in good shape, other than that, and I would like to fix it. Thanks.

Just examine those systems, parts by part. Disassemble, clean, lube, reassemble. If they are supposed to move- and they don't- then that's what you've gotta do. Toss up a few pics if you like. We'll help any way we can.

Welcome to the forum! Do as the others have said. It just sounds like it has maybe sttod for a while and the cables have gotten a bit old and are sticking.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the responses. I really appreciate it. I will check to see if any of the bolts are rusted but I don't think they are. Everything is very clean on the Kart. It was working just fine one day and the next day both the brake and accelerator were frozen. Would the clutch have anything to do with that?

No, the clutch will have nothing to do with the movability of the throttle and brake cables. The brake and throttle are not connected to the clutch. When you press the throttle, you should see the cable moving on the engine and pulling the throttle open. Depending on what brake system you have, pushing the brake should allow you to see the brake pads pressing on the caliper.

It is funny that both of them stopped working at the same time, because they are not dependent on each other at all. They are totally seperate cables, so one should not affect the other.

Pics will be a great help for us if you can get them. While you are doing that, I would suggest that you push the pedals and see where the cable is binding in the cables outer sleave

Hmm...

I have seen ONE circumstance in which the brake and throttle are inter-related. It's a long shot, but-

I remember seeing one instance wherein the brake linkage was tied into the governor system. The purpose was to save the clutch. New riders may have a tendency to push both the gas and brake at the same time. Normally, this is a clutch-killer. With this system, pressing the brake held the governor at idle, regardless of what you did with the gas pedal. So-

On a lark, check to see if any part of your brake system connects to any part of the engine...
