Hi everyone, so the summer holidays are here again and I don't want to be sat in all the time! Last year me and a friend worked on a gokart virtually every day!! This year I've decided to do it again but hopefully a more successful go kart!

Back to the subject, I've decided to build an electric go kart from wood and scrap I can find. What size motor would use say is ideal, I'm in the UK and we want about 10-15mph but decent torque so we can carry weight. I wondered about an 24v 800w motor?? Any ideas appreciated and I will later make a thread about the gokart itself.

Thanks Will

PS. I can still build even though I've broke my wrist and collar in a bike crash.

Welcome back. Have you got any pics of the one you worked on last year? I know you are still young and don't really have money, but a wooden kart is not the safest thing around. I would still have to suggest getting a used frame somewhere.

If you are determined to do wood, then we will help you out as much as we can to make it as safe as possible. Please listen to our criticism though if we do give it. The members here know what is possible or not

They will obviously need to be altered, reinforced extensively etc. As long as you will be going slow (like 10mph) and the motor is not too strong, you should probably be OK
