I was wondering how to install a racing kart motor mount, do you need to weld it on? or is there a engine mount mounting kit?

I've looked all over the internet but i never found anything about how to install a motor mount.

Sorry if its a stupid question i am very new to go karts.

On most karts there's a plate welded to the frame. The motor either bolts directly to the plate, or there's a mount that bolts to the plate and the motor is attached to the mount.

More info please!!

What type of motor, and what type of kart? Photo's are pretty much mandatory for us to be able to help you. The clearer, more in focus, the better. Please don't be surprised or offended if your first set has us asking for close ups of a specific area based on your first photo's. That's all part of the learning process, and it will become clearer as we go forward.

Oh, another thing:welcome2: to the forum!!

I believe most race karts use a clamp-on engine mount system, no welding required. However- race karts aren't my department. Wait for others to weigh in...

:iagree: They simply clamp on around the 2 frame rails:

Each of the lower clamps has a bolt-hole in the center. The top plate has threaded holes for these clamp bolts. You just tighten these bolts to very securely lock the mount in place:

The mount in this pic below has 3 clamps, but most racekart motormounts only have 2 clamps)

You'll find that many motormounts are sold to fit karts with International OR American frame rail spacing. (although some are designed to fit either type) To find out what type you need, you'd just need to measure the distance between the 2 frame rails on your kart.
International frame rail spacing measures 3 5/8", and American Measures 3".

toystory & Anderkart nailed it. My brain tends to yardkarts for the grandkids and vintage karts for myself so the clamp mounts didn't immediately come to mind.

The engine should have holes on the bottom of the crank case.. head over to home depot and pick up the right size hex bolts, and then just tighten it up.
