Motor burning out

I Built a Rupp dart frame with an 1800 watt 48 volt motor . 10 tooth drive sprocket 72 tooth axle sprocket. 13 inch tires with an 85 pound grandson. Fried motors like chicken wings, could eventually hit 24-26 mph, but took about a block to do it. Thought it was the perfect setup.
electric is a pain in the A$$. always maintenance problems, Got tired of the hassle of electric. SOLD IT. made money !

You have received some fantastic advice on the previous 15 or so post. When I commented on the sprocket size last night, it was very late and way past this old man's bedtime. I didn't even notice the construction of your kart. I can believe your story about a U-tube video from India. Great idea of your living
200 years ago, or somewhere so remote that availability is an issue. I've only been to Canada once but always considered it to be on parr with the United States. I have 5 Grandchildren that I take out to the desert to go off road Go Karting, ages 9 to 18. But I got the first kart and started when the oldest was just 4. I can tell you that safety was and still is TOP priority. I don't mean to

If someone came to you and told you they had a new bicycle that they wanted your young children to try out, and it was made out of very thin wood, plastic, and Zip ties you would slam the door in their face. I hope. Have a nice bon fire with that rolling accident you built, get some steel, practice with the welder and
PLEASE build something a little safer for your children to ride around in. It is a great hobby and a lot of fun for the parents and children alike and I hope you and your children have years of safe enjoyable times together.
