Motor bogs after throttle pull?

Hey there folks. I have a 212 non hemi with a jetted carb, 265 cam and other goodies on my minibike. Just got it put together and running but it idles weird with some spikes in the RPM and whenever I give it gas the response is usually a little delayed and as soon as I let off it bogs to the point of almost dying and sometimes it does die out completely. What could be causing this? I would love any insight

Lack of fuel? What are the details of the "jetted" carb? What size jet?
I believe it’s a .38 jet if I’m not mistaken? If anything I would think it’s running rich since it spits flames out of the tail pipe when you give it gas most times but I’m no tuner so I could try leaning it out a little bit if that’s what you would recommend

If it is the stock style carburetor, with a low restriction air filter and header pipe, then a .038 jet is pretty darn close. I have two engines set up simaler to yours and I think I have a 36 or 37 in mine, and I'm at sea level. You might be a little bit fat. Try a .036 and see if it helps. Can't think of where Aptos is, but if you're over 1000 feet of altitude you would want a little smaller. Too big of a jet will cause it to bog when throttle is first applied.
