Hey all, I’m going to upgrade the engine on my kids’ monster moto kart, to the predator 212cc. Taking it to my buddy’s place to extend the frame a few inches to fit the engine more comfortably. My question is what kind of steel tube do I need for the extension pieces? The company’s website says it’s just tubular steel. Welding is new to me, he said to make sure I get the right kind f steel, gauge,tempered, etc... thanks for any help!

Regular mild steel tubing will do. I'd buy whatever size you need for the rails then buy the size that fits inside of that so you can reinforce it by sleeving it. Drill holes to weld from the outer tubes into the inner reinforcement.
