I have a chance to pick up an electric monster moto for really cheap but I want to convert it to gas. How hard is this, I’m assuming I’ll need a different engine mount welded in but has anyone else done this?

The chassis look the same as the gas powered varient, to include the driven wheel protection cover. I think they are one wheel wonders. Not sure though. I would think the fabrication work would be minimal. The gas pedal would need rework.

Why the conversion? You might be able to modify the electronics some for less money and effort.

I’m just looking for a frame, have a 196cc I am going to use. The electric monster moto are plentiful on Craigslist but the gas is not very easy to find affordably.
Figured I’d need new grips but I also have those left over from a previous project.

I may just bite the bullet and get the electric for the frame. Around here I can get an almost new electric for $200, while some crashed or abused frames go for north of $400 or so with ripped seats and missing parts.

Well, Facebook classifieds are evil and awesome at the same time. I found a donor frame for $200 it doesn’t hurt that the engine works. I have other plans for the engine, another project... this hobby is really an addiction at this point :).

A friend had that same minibike. I think he paid like $400 brand new. That is how I found out that the 80cc on there is too small for an growed up minibike. He wanted me to do an engine swap, but then gave the bike to his nephew.

I know this post is a few months old, but me and a buddy did the 196cc swap to that exact bike. It only took a couple hours. Drilled new mount holes on the existing plate and flipped the clutch backwards. It was extremely straight forward.
