So as I have poured over the internet, the data, the craziness, it seems there is nothing on modding a 30 driver. This seriously boggles my mind. Once I figured out how they worked I had seen it before. A 30 driver is very similar in engaging as a RC nitro engine clutch. While those you can get springs for, many of us do it another way. We remove weight from the shoes so they have to spin faster to overcome the spring. Has anyone tried this on a 30 driver yet? if not, no fears, I am going to. I have a new driver weight coming just incase I destroy the one in it now. Im going to mark a spot on both weights and drill a hole. I will start small and work my way up. I want to try to get a few hundred rpm more before it starts to come on. I know this will also push the max engagement rpm up as well. Doing this may require governor adjustment or removal. Its free, its easy, Why I have I not found info on this? Am I missing something on why its not being done?

I just got a Duromax 7hp engine and some people were saying it idles at 1800 and the Driver will engages at 1600. If this works and I have problems with it engaging to early I could do something like this. I will be watching your results.

First thing I need to do is find a tach so I can get data. Other thing I need to do is clean up and lube the driver to make sure its working exactly as it should.

I'm not sure if comet still makes the different sized weights, but they do still sell the springs. There is also a nice little chart on this page, 30 series replacement springs. For the most part people are happy with the stock settings on the 30 series, which is why you don't see that much about modifying them.

The springs are def the way to go! How have I never seen these? Guess Rome wasn't built in a day... lol. Thanks for the links. I still need a 8 tooth sprocket so I will grab some springs and lube while I'm at it.
