Hey guys,

I bought this Minimoto karts non-running with few mechanical issue. I made it run using scooter controller and fixed the mechanical issue (steering, brakes system, and body panel mostly). Now it's time to work on the electrical portion of it.

This is the controller that I have.

So far, I use only battery connector, motor connector, brake, throttle, and on/off switch. I'm charging the battery by disconnecting the battery from the controller and charge it seperately ( charging it off the controller circuit).

What I want to do is to add Emergency switch, the forward/reverse switch, the ignition key, remote kill switch, and fuses.

For ignition type key switch I use this. I'm thinking of replacing the on/off button with this. What would the advantage of having both key switch and on/off switch? seems like they both do the same thing.

the Emergency switch, I'm going to use this. For this switch, would I just wire it on the positive side of the battery before going to the controller? I want this switch to disconnect any power when pushed.

For forward reverse? How do I wire this? It has to be outside the controller since there is none in the controller that I have.

For the fuse, I'll be putting it in series between the battery and the controller with circuit breaker, maybe before the kill switch. What do you guys think?

How about the remote kill switch? I'd like to kill the power from the distance in case my son goes somewhere where I don't want to. Where can I get this and would I wire them to kill the main power or the ignition/on-off switch?

Thanks for the help.

For reverse and forward you just need to switch the polarity at the motor plug if your motor is compatible with reversing. Doing it there is exactly how auto manufacturers do it with power window motors. Exact same concept.

As far as a key switch it's so some dummy can't take off with your ride while your not looking ! I always have some kind of theft switch or key somewhere.

So, the forward/reverse switch would be wired between the motor and controller.

If you have the key switch, do you even need the on/off switch?

Thanks for responding.

On mine, i used a 3 way toggle switch for reverse and forward, and the ignition lock key that connect into the controller.

Sorry for the drawing skills ;)

that had better be a beefy 3 way switch to handle the current...
The minimoto comes stock with a reverse switch already, is yours broken?
BTW, they look great with offroad tires ;)

That's great idea, i wonder if someone already have done that.
