Is this brake plate even suppose to be on there? Looks like someone just welded it there.

Lots of mini bikes have scrub brakes. That was back in the day when being economical ruled the day.

Nice find. Are you going to keep it?

That's looks like a bonanza and you might be able to use a drum brake with that sprocket or you are going to have to fab up a custom brake (hydraulic is best). Scrub brakes are not bad at stopping but are hard on rear tires

Can't tell if the scrub brake is a later add-on or not. But, I like a rear brake operated with the right foot and a front from the right grip....just like a motorcycle so it's a technique that translates across both platforms.

Is one brake adequate for a mini bike? I don't know.

I have this lil beastie with front and rear discs....

Old Rupp, with a 6hp Briggs. To be honest, I don't feel any great difference in braking between this and a single brake mini.

Would this kit work for this mini bike with 8" wheels? Minus the frame.

What's wrong with the wheels you have? They look halfway decent, maybe better...

Go cheap and easy!

There sun rotted so need to get new ones and there pretty rusted on too.

So? Refurbish and repair is our game. Get the wheels off (in the usual way) and cut the tires from the rims if they're not salvageable.

Good advice. I've ordered from MFG before. Nice big order too since I wasn't worried about an escalating shipping and handling fee--just a flat rate with them.
