I installed a new torque converter on my baja warrior a little bit ago, and now I'm running into an issue.

When I first start it the engine idles fine, however when I stop after riding for a bit the bike shakes like crazy and doesn't return to idle as quickly as it should. And the driven looks like it is opening way too far (I can see a small gap between the two plates).

The bike has a four month old predator, 6" driven, and a driver with a bearing instead of a bushing and a 9t on the TC. The only thing that changed was the addition of a 30 series and topping off the oil.

Did you rev the bike up with the rear tire of the ground and stop it abruptly? I did that and the outer front pulley cover bent, causing it to not want to idle. I just bent it back into shape with a vise. The front pulley was stuck in the expanded position basically.

Just guessing here, but it's worth a shot.

2SlickNick: Yes it has a bearing on the driving that the belt rides on instead of a bushing.
Landuse: I will post some pics asap.
And MrTurbo458: I use wood blocks to hold the bike up off the ground when working on the drive wheel and its related components, and I don't really trust a stack of 2x4s to hold the bike up while the engine is running.

The only things that may be a problem are that I used a new driver with a driven and belt that have a mile or two on them. The bolt that holds the driver on did loosen up during the test ride causing the outer plate to loosen up, but I caught it in time and walked it back to my garage.

The driver can be found here:

It sounds like something is not put together correctly or is bent in the primary drive clutch. Please disassemble and check. When you put the through bolt back in put some blue Loctite on the threads before tightening it down.

I fixed the bike, and I think I found the source of the problem. I swapped the bearing driven for a driven with the bushing, and that fixed the idling problem. And as for the other driven, there is an excessive amount of play between the moving face and the hub. So I think that might be the problem. I will contact gopowersports about the issue shortly, but before then I will try it on my gokart to see if it will work properly with a 7" driven and a tecumseh instead of a predator.
