Mini bike torque converter and fuel pump questions.

Hello! Picked up a mini bike for free of Craigslist a few months ago I thought it would be a fun little project, which it is... but the more I get into it the more I realize needs to be fixed on it.

I’m sure I’ll have more questions in the future but for today I just have two.

The first is what series’s TQ do i need for a 212 Predator engine? Can I get away with a 30 series or do I need a 40?

Going along with that where is the best place to buy one?

How can I account for getting the bracket I see in a lot of these TQ’s to fit the distance between my drive shaft and engine output shaft? Or will I just have to play around with my engine mounting to get the right distance?


My other question is about pulse fuel pumps, how can I figure out which hose goes where? I assume that the barb by itself is the one way valve, and the two next to each other are to tank and to carb. I guess I could open it up to be sure.

30 series will do you just fine. GoPowerSports sells them with a backing plate (takes the guess work for aligning the driver and driven pulleys). As far as the pulse pump,leave the gas tank where it's at and you will not need it. Long as the gas tank is above the carburetor and not level or below the carburetor you will not need one.

Bike came with a tank, was going to use it so I could use the same seat post. There are some clearance issues if I use the stock fuel tank.

So something like this "30 series Torq Kit for Murray Go-karts- 203597 belt, 3/4" driven 7" would work?

That is a bit harsh! But yes, I 've been thinking of it as a mini-bike/pit bike, this is what it looked like when I started.

That's not enough, I was looking into an offset or extra tall seat post but then a friend gave me this pulse pump for free so I figured I'd make it work.

I was thinking more of this one https://www.gopowersports.com/tav-30-75-torq-a-verter-comet-after-market/ you'll gain a 10% overdrive gear, so a 6:1 ratio ends up being a 5.4:1 and you gain like an extra mile or so per hour top speed. The 7" driven gives you a 1:1 final, where as the 6" is a 0.9:1. Plus having the backing plate will make alignment easier for the pulleys.

Ok.. still dont see how making a bend in the seat post is a problem....Heck dent in the tank a bit to fit the tube...
One could also do a complete offset seat post kinda deal like this...Offsets to wherever you like...

A Tc, I also think is bit much, for this when Cheaper cent clutch would be plenty for the setup you have...The 212 will probably break that #25 chain pretty quickly anyways...

Equally speaking you still have a redundant thing of having a pump, when you dont need it at all... the tank is right there...

Im not quite getting what exactly you are trying to do.....

My bad I didn't mean to come across as harsh. It's a badazz looking project I can appreciate a good deathtrap lol. I have one of these trx scooters that I plan on putting a live axle and gas motor on to one day

Here https://imgur.com/a/4q8bRf5 are some more pictures of the seat post issues. In short if i use the stock tank I have less than 2mm of post in the bike, or I just remove the seat and sit on the gas tank. But I think I'll just use the pump and the tank that came with the bike. should be fine.

I also completely redid the handlebars. Using a set that fold in 1/2 that came off an old I-zip 1000 electric scooter. A nice feature that will make it easier to fit in the trunk of my car when its done. Now I'm working on upgrading the rear shock spring, I got a 2,000lb spring, also from the I-Zip, going to have to cut a coil off of it to make it fit though.
