hey guys i have a old keystone mini bike which is on youtube under my channel Brettskarts877 the video is mini bike build... I have been debating to weather i should build a side car or not. The mini bike tops out a 40 kph and has lots on power as it has a 72 tooth sprocket on it. I am just wondering if anyone would know if i built a side car if i had a buddy in it . if it would slow it down alot or what? Also i plan on changing the gearing to allow for more speed. Please help me decide the best gearing for it and weather i should do it or not. thanks

If u add a side car and a friend u would be at least doubling the weight
U would have to gear down not up

By the time u have messed around with a side car u could build your mate a mini bike of his own

It is plausible, but keep in mind you are adding lots of weight, so if you have access to a more powerful engine, it might be better to use that. If you don't, then you may lose a lot of speed. Also, make sure you make it well, as you would not want it rolling off at high speeds.

Well i dont want to build another mini bike as i will have atleast another $200 into one and a side car will one cost me $10 for one wheel and i have scrap steel to build a car out of. If i was to gear it down what would be a good sprocket choice?

I tried the 6.5 champion motor in my videos put it was 1/2 a inch to big.... : ( I want to use my 4hp champion as it fits nice and works amazing. I work at a welding shop part time so i am not worried about my design failing... thanks for your input . Would you know a good sprocket choice for having a side car and buddy in it?

side car

The first pic is how i would mount it... But instead on vise grips i would drill and bolt a few holes... So it would be removable. And all the rest are pics of designs But i have not figured out if i want a tank design or if i want a open design like the last pic...

I like the last picture, the one with the seat. The person in the sidecar would probably like that one the most too!

Yeah I want to build one like the last pic...I want one like this because it will cut down on weight. I think it would look good if i had a diamond plate floor board? I still have to figure out a seat weather i have to build on or buy one like the one in the picture...Do you guys think i should have a hand bar or what? Also Would the last one be kinda tipsy from its small wheel base and three wheel. Thanks guys
