New member here wanting to tell my story. When I was 11 my father would tell me about his go kart he had when he was a kid. He told me it had a Mc 101 and did 70 or better, I was impressed!
We always talked about buying a mini bike and doing it up as a father son project. One day I was hanging with some friends, a buddy of mine showed up super excited for some reason. He stated that he just saw my father u loading a mini bike from the car. I didn’t believe him.
I rushed home and to my surprise I now owned a mini bike!! My father bought the mini bike from a garage sale in the neighborhood for 75 bucks. He scored big time because he recognized the motor and said it was the same motor he ran on his kart! He always said it looked like a bonanza frame.
The Mc 101 had no recoil start so we used to have to keep wrapping the cord around the crank Pulley to try and kick it over. The mini bike never ended up running for more then a couple seconds. The first time we tried to get it running I was standing in front of the bike holding the break while my dad tried to get it to run. A couple pulls later and the thing kicked like a mule!! He looked at me and said next one it’s gonna run. I held on as tight as I can, the engine started and the mini bike ran me over and flew into my garage. Me being laid out on he floor didn’t seem to bother my dad as he chased the mini bike down to make sure it was ok....
the next time we gave it a go we put it in blocks and faced it away from the garage hahah. It did the same thing came out of the blocks and took off but my father was able to jump on it and proceeded to destroy my front lawn because the thing was screaming and then stalled. We knew the motor had some issues so we tried to have it serviced but this was before the internet was huge and eBay even existed. With no luck at trying to get the motor rebuilt we put it to rest and put a 5.5 Briggs on it and had a blast for years. My father even got hit my a car on the dam thing. My father ended up dying from cancer a few years later. When I turned 19 I moved to florida and couldn’t afford to take it with me.
A couple years later my mom told me that she had the shed in the back cleaned out and threw out the original motor!!! I almost had a heart attack. I am now 32 years old and I finally reunited with my and my fathers beloved mini bike. The mini bike is in total disarray as it was in super storm sandy but I’m looking to rebuild it with a vintage style race motor and I would like to see if anyone can help identify the frame so I can get some info. I’ll post pictures of the frame when I can. Thanks fo listening to my story! It brings back awesome memories
