Hey guys,
I have a question which no one can (or will) help me with. Maybe you guys can give a hand,
First a little background- I race with my friends in a backyard oval track, the rules say that we can only use up to a 6.5 horse engine, it can't be an animal or factory race engine but other than that we can do almost anything.
I bought a 6.5 horse Intec, this is what I have done so far
Tillotson Carb
animal valves
arc rod
animal piston
dyno cam
built a pipe for it

I am having a problem with tuning the engine, I know it won't have much low end because of the lobe overlap of the cam, but I really think I need to raise the dynamic compression ratio. I can't find any high compression pistons, and I am not sure exactly how to measure how much I can mill off the deck and the head, could some one go over this? I have a dial indicator, how can I get a good enough measurement to be sure I am not hitting the valves? Also, will I need shorter pushrods if I mill the deck/head? or will they be allright
Thanks

If you are still using the Intek head you are giving up power. They use a D shaped intake port which is better for torque. I'd recommend keeping it in most cases except where you seem to be heading now which is top end wide open performance. You'll want to get an animal head.

Ask this in the Animal section at 4cycle.com... they'll know about milling and such. And probably how to tune the Tilly which is probably your main issue.
