Well I've got myself a mikuni Carb from an old 125 v twin bike that I had, has a few jets to play with and i think its similar to a vm26 but i cant know for sure, its off an xvs 125 dragstar , anyway iv got a gx 240 that i want to fit it to and was wondering what setups other people have? Like jet sizes, needle positions ect has anyone had any problems and things like that. Just out of general interest

Im a real noob to the whole carbureted thing. I reckon it will be a bit too much for the motor to handle. Could tone down the fuel but it will still have too much air.. not too sure.

The carb size should be fine, but it will definitely need to be leaned out. Personally I'd mount it, try to run it and check the plug then go from there. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you'll need something around 3-5 main jet sizes up from a 6.5 clone with a vm22 ( its just a semi-educated guess)

Well u can change everything to do with fuel/ air mix no problem depending on what jets you use, also the inlet pipe from Carb to engine plays it's part, the Carb I've got comes off a 125cc engine wich uses less fuel than a 240cc so up-jetting should sort it, but would be handy having somewhere to start from, rather than trial and error. Most mikuni carbs share the same internal parts, so it just comes down to jet and needle sizes, other factors play their part like exhaust flow and timing , but that is more engine / owner specific.

At the moment I'm just toying with the idea , seeing what other people have done , getting some info.
