Mikuni carb. Do I need to remove the governor?

Hey guys I pretty much built my go kart from scratch I mounted a Tillotson 212 engine on it. Looking to put a Mikuni carburetor on it, but I don’t want to open the engine up to mess with the internals. If I put the Mikuni carb on it, doesn’t it just bypass the governor altogether?

The governor won’t work, but all the parts will be whirling away at much faster speeds than they were designed to do and have a better chance of blowing apart than they don’t, so I’d remove it to be safe.
