MIG welding gloves, what do you use?

I've always struggled with my MIG gloves because of the seam along my left index finger. I find myself frequently holding parts to be welded with my left hand and the heat from the torch burns the threads in the stitch, allowing hot metal to jump in with my finger. I finally searched for gloves with no seam there. I picked these Tillman's up at Phoenix Welding for about $14 and I love them. They are pretty thick and Tillman has a thinner version as well, but that felt too thin for my liking.

Me too..... They work pretty good and the seam hasn't busted in the 3 years I've had em. Now, doing the same thing (holding the work in my left hand) , I have managed to shrivel/shrink the corner of the index finger. A little too hot. Funny thing though, I never felt the heat until the leather was cookin! And it was too late by then.... That smarted a little....

I wear the cheap welding gloves from Harbor Freight. I have the same problem left index finger wears/burns out at the seam. They are cheap so I bought more, but now I have a perfectly good spare RH glove.

I use the hobart one from TSC and the seam between thumb and pointer has opened.
The HF gray ones feels like the pointer finger is half way closed. lol

I don't know about the gray ones. Mine are lambskin. (almost like wearing nothing at all)

tillman gloves all the way! I was going to buy the miller gloves same feature 3x the price, but when I tried them on and if you good look at them the tip of the index finger is sewn vertically across the tip all there gloves were, and im right handed so I pick up a lot with the left hand, with the millers and the funny vertical stitch it makes it harder to pick up the smaller things.

quick welding tip, when welding mufflers and thin metal, or trying to fill a hole, grab a welding rod, I use 6018, and while, or when you start off treat the stick rod like a tig rod and it will help control the heat and it will help fill in, picked this up one day filling in a hole and I had about half box of electrodes that had gotten wet. but I kept them anyway, and you can use it with the flux coating on or pop it on the work bench and knock it off, while using flux mig wire*.*

Gee I allways thought that seam was supposed to be open for cooking and cooling of the fingers.

Something some guys at my work did with some of the cheaper unlined welding gloves (I'm pretty sure they were unlined) is cut off about an inch of the fingers on a large glove, and put a medium glove inside. That way you had a thicker glove, but the thinner fingers worked well for more precise work. I personally use ones from aclands (Canada) called "sexy back" I don't remember what brand, but they have seemed to hold up well.

I checked, and they are Watson brand. The seam is also on the top of the finger, not on the side.
