Mega Moto 212 Mini Bike with maybe 5 hours on it. Tillotson 212cc engine, Huayi carburetor, 9+HP (Stock), flywheel rated at 10,000 RPM (not aluminum), high compression and high flow Hemi head with 27mm-24mm valves, 26lb valve springs. I installed the Stage 1 Performance Kit with air filter, air filter adapter, .038 main jet, header, and muffler. The kit added 2 to 3+ horsepower. I ran this combo for awhile but wanted more speed. I removed the governor and connected throttle linkage directly to carb. The rod, cam and flywheel are stock. The only difference that this made was, it accelerates faster. The speed and rpms aren't any higher. Others with the same bike show higher rpms and speed. Carb is moving to wide open. It speeds up then flattens out. Maybe the carb is leaning out? Can the torque converter be the cause? Seems to be noisy from that side of the engine at idle and when riding. Nature of the beast? Thanks

As long as you keep the stock carb, I don't believe you'll ever NEED a billet flywheel or billet rod. The stock carb will restrict the rpm enough to keep you safe. Once you go to a mikuni......it would seem judicious to spend the $400 to be sure your safe ! For more speed you may consider
Gearing changes. drop 3-4 teeth on the axle, and you'll pick up MO faster. 6-10 teeth and you'll be a little slower off the line, but higher top end.

Thanks Da redflash I can see that happening. 20230303_163549.jpg20230303_163533.jpg20230303_163502.jpg20230303_163523.jpgAbout the torque converter noise. It is noisy when at idle and when moving. I removed the torque converter and ran the engine at idle and through the rpm range. All the noise is gone. Here are some pics of the torque converter. Looks rough too me. Looks like the 2 small pucks? are the only ones working. Should all move out? Is something causing this? I do a lot of slow riding on dirt roads. Do I need to change something for different engagement? I hope the pics work. BTW, the driven pulley spring is red and in the middle hole. Thanks

Inside of your driver clutch looks perfectly normal. You should take some brake parts cleaner and scotch brite and clean it up before reassembly. Especially the heavy cast part in the middle. It has 4 concave slots in it. Get them clean. When you reinstall the driver, use a strap wrench to hold it so you can torque down the bolt and put some blue lock tight on it beforehand.

Cleaned the sheaves and flyweights. Surfaces not smooth. Looks like metal fatigue to me.
