I have knock off comet brake caliper with 8 inch disc. Its mounted on the live axle.

Its affective but it really doesnt stop the go kart that great. My go kart is in no way fast but its not slow. Fastest Ive gotten it so far is 51.3(i used a gps lol)mph.

Minus buying a hydraulic brake setup is there any way i can get a more affective setup? Ive thought about buying another brake caliper and disc and have 2 discs on the axle.

Or getting new pads and upgrading the disc to a slotted or drilled disc. Like a saw disc or so would work. Also slightly tighten you brake line.

more calipers will double the stopping power. just go hydraulic man. I got caliper, rotor and master cylinder off a motorcycle for under $40, it stop my from 40 to 0 in les than 15 ft. I can lock the tires and do a 180. I'll never use mechanical again. Both my karts are hydraulic.

Can I have some pics of you guys setups? I think I will go hydraulic I just need some ideas on how to mount the brake caliper and how to adapt the lever into a pedal.

If you buy a rear caliper/master cylinder off a motorcycle, the caliper will be larger plus the master cylinder will probably be easier to connect to your brake pedal.

This Is What I Got. I have yet to test it out because im still the building stages of my cart but im sure it will work wonders. Im also going to be using a 8in disk that is drilled. You cant really beat the price to $40 bucks Shipped. I also ordered it from that seller. I ordered it thursday night and i got it monday. Hope that helps
