I accidentally broke this pendant on one of my old lady's necklaces. I think it might have been given to her by her mother who passed away early in my old lady's life and I want to find an exact replica if I can, long shot I know. It's some kind of plastic or resin, the material is much thinner around the outer edge than in the middle. I super glued the larger pieces to aid in identification. At a minimum, any guesses on what type of flower that is?

thanks, I've been trying all kinds of searches, just realized, I think it's made from a sea shell, but then again it had a pretty good reaction with the super glue, similar smell to different plastics, I dunno

I'd say it's dark amber not seashell
mainly because it reminds me of those:

Anyways, find any similar seashell/amber carving on etsy.com
contact the maker and ask for help, you might need to pay a bit more,
but they surely can make you a more or less exact replica. (given the seller is indeed the maker)

PS assuming you have a dremel and carving bits.. you could too is you're willing to spend some time on it
All you need is a dark seashell big enough (or say two, one for training )

I think I see what you mean,
but that chipping is something you'd also see on natural amber (layer cast resin )

shells almost always have an iridescent inner layer ("mother of perl" - esque so to say)
it's still quite possibly a shell (I can't tell from the pics to be honest)

But I'd not stick with shells searching for a similar pendant..
horn doesn't chip that way (it's more like hair tearing in fibres)
so that I'd indeed rule out.

but amber would chip, so would a gemstone
black Jade (should still have some form of greenish tint)
some form of Agate (Onyx for example is mostly black but can brown as well)
would chip (with extremely sharp edges)
Onyx blades are still the sharpest blades possible (and the most brittle ones)
and what's more important is likely the most carved gemstone
or dark Carnelian... (Chalcedony)

Anyways, I wouldn't stick with just shells if I search for a similar pendant on the internets,
even if it is, the seller might mistook it for something else.

A lot of the costume jewelry from a little after the turn of the century to the later 50s used to be made from Bakalite which is an early form of plastic.
