MaxTorque Torque Converters How to line up?

Hello. I got an Yerfdog 3020 with a MaxTorque Torque Converter. When I put the 6.5 clone on the kart I just lined the clutches up center to center.

I have the kart back for basic repairs. I notice to belt wear. I also remember reading that some clutches you do not line up center to center and thay are off set some. I think!

So on the MaxTorque Torque Converter whats the proper way to line the clutches?

B-Man, How much space or spacers do you have from your case to your primary clutch? We have the same setup.

Basicaly the kart has been treated really bad. My nephew dad is ***. He let the kart sit in the rain. The dogs chewed the seat and all the pads. And the Uni filter. Who just lets the dogs eat a brand new kart? And leave it outside with not even a tarp. I got it back with layers of mud all over it. This was a sweet little karts for my nephew. Anyway I will bring it back to life. But the kart will stay with me. The only ride it on camping trips. So they can come pick it up when they do go. Pics coming soon.

Oh and I did give him a peace of my mind.

Here are the pics. First pics show the clutch in question. The rest show the condition of the kart. The eletronics are my falt for I just use two sided tape. But still would be an easy zip tie to fix. Headlight is busted but I expected that. They were the cheap HF plastic ones. The dog the rain and no cleaning is what pissed me off. Also this is the kart after layers of mud cakes were hosed off of it.

I would suggest not letting him have the kart back(the dad of coarse) . but instead keep it for your nephew and let him ride it. so that it lasts and gets to be ridden instead of being chewed up.

and on the TC. theres just no way to get it perfectly straight. they look good,but as you accelerate the belt comes in ward as the driver engages. and if you space it more its out of align at idle. but my setups slightly different.

and whats with that driven? is it stock? or replacement? mine looks WAY different.

come to think of it. does that driven use a v-belt?

I really do not know. This was on the kart when I got it. The kart was in fair shape. I assumed it was original. It was really clean kart with low hours. I posted a pic of it when I started. Even the bottom was pretty clean. This is why I thought it was original. It's TC belt not a v belt.

So what do I have then?

Yep, He did not even think to plug it off. He did disconnect the fuel line to that side though.

I edited the post above with pics.

I could be wrong about if mine is stock or not. I have done zero research. The belt was good and the kart powered fine. I just notice belt wear and it is jerking now. Belt is wat lose.

I will pull it all apart and clean. Just wondering how to line them up.

I will be able to make this kart like new again. Just lots of cleaning. Replace the pads and tape. My father in law will sew the seat. My nephew will ride this in the parade if I have to work the next 72 hours non stop.

To make this thread interesting... The dad is the dude in the door way behind the kids.

Like v belt in a cars v-belt?

Perhaps this is the wrong belt. It did look kind of new. I will go look. BRB

Ok I just looked. It is a asymmetric belt set up for sure. Bothe clutches have the flate side and the other side is tapered or what ever you call it.

So whats the rule of thumb to line these up right?

Can you ID my Clutches?

well i see a problem with mine. i need new buttons. but my driven looks way out dated.

any idea where to look for those?

Just noticed the writting on the driven. went out and looked. It says Comet on both clutches.

And know I think about it the black gaurd box was modded to clear the jack shaft chain. I hade to clean it up. So ya not original.

When I restored this I just used what was on the kart. everything was fine and there and working. So I really did not need anything. I thought it was orginal. Then you said your was MT so I just thought mine was.
