Picked this up on Friday from my local Craigslist. The guy blew it up prior to me arriving, so I was able to get it & a bunch if extras for $150. I've been scowering this site, google images & the Margay site attempting to identify it. I'm unable to currently locate a serial # in the usual places & have already emailed Margay, but can't figure out how to attach pics to their ID form. So while I'm waiting to hear back I figured if see if anyone here could help. Both spindles say margay but where they attach
To the frame doesn't look like any margay I could find on line.

The body work is all pretty much junk. Frame seems to be solid with no bends also looks to be chrome under the black paint. The. steering shaft, steering support rods & front bumper are all chrome as well. Motor is a uncle Franks blue wazoom. Looks as if it threw the rod cause there are 2 cracks in the side of the block. Guy drove it in his yard, so its covered in grass & mud.

You do know you can attach more than one pic per post...

If you want to add to a post, use the "edit" button at the bottom right of your post. Although we really like pics, we're not really keep on multiple posts :)

I know, but I can't seem to get it to add more then one pic per post thru my phone. It just deletes all pics & makes the last one I add my first one. Even when I hit the edit button, it erases my previous pic & just addes the new one. Not sure if this is because I'm using my iphone or I just don't know what i'm doing, or a combination of both... :lolgoku:

You got a great price, but I dont think its a Margay chassis. It might be a Coyote (or several other brands that all look fairly similar), but Its a 1980's/90's-era (strait-rail) sprintkart that someone has modded for dirt oval racing.

It also looks like someone cut the original spindle-mounts off and welded on a Heim joint conversion kit using Margay spindles. Heim joint conversions like this were a fairly popular mod to update older racekarts to have adjustable camber.

Thanks for the help! I emailed Coyote to see if they could help.

Any idea what the aluminum canister with the 2 green gas lines running to it thats mounted to the rear bumper is? The guy that I bought it from said that the reason it blew up was due to him not cleaning that out. Said it has something to do with it being run on methonal?

I'm also guessing that it has an external fuel pump due to the belly tank.

I plan on tearing this completly apart & redoing the entire cart this winter. I just picked up a complete & running Honda gx270 which i plan on moding slightly too. Once i start this i'll start a build thread on here.

That Aluminum canister is a Catch Can, (also called a puke tank). 4-cycle engines like yours have a tendency of forcing a bit of oil out the crankcase breather at high RPM. These tanks catch that oil instead of allowing it to spay back on the other racers and track. If the catch can was completely full, It would restrict/plug-up the engines breather port, not a good thing...

Your engine has one of the Tollotson brand carb models. It's got a built-in fuel pump, but sometimes they dont draw enough fuel on their own and need an additional pulse fuel pump installed to help out.
