Hi
Without any specific reason -other than I noticed the inconsitency-
I'd like to suggest 'levelling' the rules for attachments
currently jpeg files are allowed with 1500 x 1500 pix and 9000 kbyte,
jpg files with only 1000 x 1000 pix and 10000 kbytes (odd to say the least)
Also.. pngs are not allowed at all (which is a real pain sometimes)
So personally, I'd suggest the same size (byte and pix) for all images adding png to the list;
plus the same bytesize for all other attachments as well (zip, tiff, pdf) (10MB would be nice.. 5MB should do the trick 99% of the time)
That way we could attach manuals in case a user asks for one, now we can only add a link
(that may or may not be available next month/year)
Which brings me to the next suggestion on my list...
Manuals!
Instead of adding the smae manual over and over again (filling up precious server storage for no reason other than convenience)
It'd be nice to have a "download" section
say with this vb-hack : http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=120122
to provide those manuals in one place.
like
Eninge manuals,
kart manuals and parts list,
clutches/Torque converters & gearboxes
etc..
Everything available, without leaving diygk and most of all
as a consistent source.
then instead of attaching the same manual, we could hotlink to the file in "our" download section, knowing it'll be there and available.
tell me what you think.
