Finally got motivated to get this thing done. Got lucky with a discontinued 13hp HF engine, 40 series Comet & fabbed up a mount for it all. Seems to work well, just working out details.

Jackshaft has a 10t, 40/41 sprocket, axle has 60t sprocket. Chain is 40.

Need better brakes! The original cable actuated brake isn't cutting it.

Need to disable the low oil sensor! :censored:

Chain slipped off the sprocket once, other than tightening it, maybe an idler?

Need more low end Uumph! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the top end, but I do like sudden acceleration. :arf:

You should have plenty of torque with your setup, but if you want more acceleration, before changing gear ratios I would adjust the spring tension on the driven. You can make it tighter by putting the spring in another hole, which keeps the driven in high ratio longer.

Can I do that with a 40? I know it's done with the 30 series, but did not see the adjustment holes for the 40 series.

Look for the 3 holes in the driven outer cam. I think I can see them in one of the pictures above.
