So I purchased this kart a few days ago, with the intentions of refurbishing it, it needed throttle cable, return springs, brake adjustment, and a few other odds and ends. Well, I get all the obvious stuff taken care of and figure it is time to ride it. It starts and runs fine, but is seriously lacking power, only getting up to about 12 mph with a 170 lbs rider.
From speaking to the previous owner (no one would EVER lie to me), he says it should run around 30 mph which jived with what I have read on the internet (again, internet is never wrong).
It has the 6.5 hp Suburu Robin motor and Comet 30 series torque converter. How reliable, how often, do these torque converter's need to be rebuilt? And the belt is extremely loose on both pulleys at idle, is that correct?
<---hoping engine hasn't lost compression.... and if it has, could I just bolt on a bigger honda clone with the same TC?
