So I'm going to start a official build thread on this.

Its a manco quicksilver 485 I believe is the model number. I got it for $400 with a predator 420 engine. I have major plans for this kart hopefully.

I stripped it down to just the frame for fabrication. The way they had the engine mounted was a complete joke. I ordered a mount from go powersports. I'll be cutting the rear tube out of the frame and moving it back as far as possible to make room for the torque converter.

Once I got the stock air box and muffler off the engine it fit the frame and allowed the right side cage tube to be reinstalled.

Some of the plans for this build...... we have a small track in the back yard where we race karts. I have two other stock older manco dingos with predator 212 engines.

I plan on building the predator 420. I'd like to do a stroker crank and make it a 440. Also billet rod and flywheel with a cam and hd valve train. I'm hoping to squeeze over 25 hp out of it eventually but we shall see.

I'm going to start with a genuine comet 44 magnum clutch and see how it goes. I also have a comet 94c duster for back up.

I plan on fitting the brush guard better and fully welding and making it a cage with more tubes and reinforcing the frame through out.

So here's the start..... thanks for checking it out!

Hey I just had a question. I bought those same spindles with the spring on it for a little bit of suspension. I see him out of the spring on top of the actual spindle and I was thinking I was going to mail it the other way around. Is there any right or wrong way? My thought was it would give a little cushion over bumps if I put the spindle on top of the spring. Does anybody have any input on this?

The spring needs to go on top or it won't do anything. Just like a car. When you hit a bump the wheel needs to go up. If you have the spring on the bottom the spindle just hits the frame and doesn't do anything.

So today I cut out the stock frame work and welded in new tubes and engine mount from go powersports. I'm trying to setup so I can start with a 44 magnum clutch and if I out grow it I'll have room to use a 94c setup. That way I don't have to redo everything. So far so good.
