I just bought a used Manco Eliminator 425B 5hp 2 seater from a yard sale for $275 non running.Said he bought it new for a $1000 for his daughter and she drove it one summer and its been sitting in garage for years.
I changed gas/sparkplug/oil and started it but it would not run without choke on.So I took carb apart and soaked it for a day and blew it out.It runs great now.Motor has 95 compression.
I gave it gas and it wouldn't moved.Motor seemed to be bogging out. Then I found out brake was dragging cause the pedal linkage was to tight.Fixed that and now it takes off very slowly. After about 20-30ft it comes alive.I think I got it up to 35mph But I have no take off power or the ability to take off on a incline.
I need to gear this thing down.It looks all stock.I cant believe manco would sell a go kart with this gearing.
Clutch sprocket 12t 3/4 bore #35 chain
Jackshaft double sprocket 36t/16t
drum sprocket 36t
I was going to buy a 10 tooth clutch but I can only find them for the #41 chain
So I look to change the drum sprocket but I can only find 36t
Then I looked for the jackshaft sprocket and found a 36t/12t --

Do you think that would gear me down enough?
Or how hard would it be to change this kart to a Torque Converter like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Go-Kart-Tor...200310?hash=item1a253241b6:g:1SsAAOSwopRYlpxX
Thx for any help.
