Hello guys. This seems to be the place for go cart info, so here goes. Looking at a Manco Eliminator go cart for my grandson, it has a 5hp Subaru engine. The guy says it has 2 chains, so I assume it has a jackshaft. Is this a fairly trouble free setup? He sent me a picture, it looks really good, but he's asking $600.00. He says it has a new clutch, but this seems like a high price. So is this a dependable cart and is the price in the ballpark? Thanks

Can you post the pic or, better yet, the link to the ad?

Prices vary from city to city; what you pay $600 for may be worth $300 150 miles away (just an example); it all comes down to supply & demand...

Thank you for adding your location but, can you narrow it down a bit?

It certainly sounds like a jackshaft setup, which I don't think is standard but, yes, the cent clutch is OEM; "trouble free" depends on how well it was set up...

Thanks for the reply! I haven't learned how to post pictures yet, but I'm working it, and there is no ad, I'm just dealing with him on facebook. The paint looks good, it's the factory yellow color, tires look decent and my grandson is only 5 yo and this cart looks like it would fit him better than some of the bigger ones.

The chain drive really appeals to me also, because my nephew bought a new cart with a cvt and they have had a lot of problems with belts.

Well...its bed time here in Kentucky (Eastern). Again, I appreciate the quick response.

Tell him you only have $450 to spend and walk awsy.....he wont sell it for $600......so you have time. ...you could even go lower....but if it's nice.... $450 isn't bad.....personally. ....I would pull out 4 $100 bills....and say....sorry....this is all I have...... (you can always fall into more money.....right?)

Poboy, I like the way you think. The guy is a friend of a friend, so I don't want to low ball him to bad. He's supposed to bring it by this weekend if he gets off work, so if it looks as good as the picture, I think I'll offer him $500.00. I've looked at some pretty crappy ones that people ask $400.00 for.

Fab, the distance from the steering wheel to the seat looks to be closer than the Black Widow cart that my nephew bought, and he's a tall 5 yo. I think it would fit him pretty well.

As for the belt problem on my nephews cart, it will burn a belt off in 30 min. He bought it from Sears, they worked on it, but it didn't help it. I found a pretty detailed thread on cvt's on this forum, so I'm going to tell him to read it.

This is a great forum, thanks

Yeah, that's not right...

Great idea, glad you found it...

Of course, if you can't work it out, let us know...

Well, looked at the cart Saturday, after seeing the seat to pedal distances that Fab posted, I figured I was wasting my time, but I went anyway. Yea, no way my grandson could've rode it. After reading this forum, I may look for a cheap, smaller cart I can build for him. I had no idea you could buy a new engine for $125.00!!! So, I may be back with more questions in the future for you Fab and your buddies. Thanks mate!!!
