So Im finally in the (I broke it, think i fixed it, now Im gonna try and put it back together) phase.
When I removed the Caliper originally from the kart and broke it down I laid everything out in order of how it went back together. I rebuild the calipers with new pins and pads. But when I put everything back together and put the calipers back on the kart I questioned myself as to its proper layout.
I just found the Manco Ding 810 manual for my kart and it shows the Lever (#10) facing the opposite direction than it was when I got the kart. Upon studding the manual I want to say that its wrong. It doesn't make sense to me that the Lever be installed to the Housing with the opening of the spoon/dimpled area facing that direction.
The caliper pictured would be the on the goes on the back right side of the kart (while looking from the back). So, according to this, when the brake is actuated the Lever would get pulled forward with the brake cable. I understand this to be correct but what I don't understand is how this would push the Actuator Pin (#4) out of the housing and put pressure on the break pad. In the diagrams set it up, this puts the Actuator Pin in full tension when at rest and the breaks not engaged. But when pulled forward, with the brakes engaged it would allow the Actuator Pin to ride into the spoon/dimpled area of the Lever, there for releasing the pressure on the breaks....
My set up has the levers reversed so that when breaks are engaged and the Lever moves forward the Actuator Pin rides the spoon area of the Lever and slowly engages the brake pads.
Sorry if its long winded, I wanted to be as detailed as possible.
