My son just bought one of these 10hp 2seater go karts, with the money he got from selling his 4wheeler. And i need some help runs and rides great with me but needs a couple of things for it to be safe for him to ride by his self or with little brother.
The question is Can someone help me with size\part numbers, and where to get parts needed. I need new front wheel bearings wheels wobble and drifts, and drive chain\sprockets look wore down, i think the chain is a #420 but have no clue about sprocket size or how to get them off, it has a comet clutch. I would like to gear it to have more pull then speed for now.

The other thing i need to look into is how to get the front end to turn instead of push a turn.

Any help\pt#'s would be great Thanks

welcome to the forum!!
SAFETY 1st
if it does not have a cage, DONOT ADD SEAT BELTS
add a kill switch if it does not have one that within EASY reach from drivers seat.
also add one to engine..

wheel bearings are usually 5/8 id they run $1-$5 ea. cheaper to buy online.. for a buck

if the front end is pushing instead of turning I would think you have a live axle setup,
try running a less aggressive tread on rear and more aggressive on front.. to help it bite, or put some weight up front???

there are TONS of websites that sell parts, Affordable Gokarts, BMI Karts, ect ect ect Northern Tool, even sells gokart stuff..

you can get #41 chain and a common gear is 10/60 that would have decent takeoff if your tires are not to big..
chain is like $1 a foot, clutch is 50-60 bux rear sprocket is about $16..

It has a full cage\belts, kill switch in steering wheel\on motor, comet clutch, and live rear axel already. Tires are rear ATV rims with holeshots big with very aggressive tread front look to be stock tread and rims, how much weight for front would you suggest? 25-30lbs??
On the sprockets how do i find out what i need there is so many differnt kinds(Bolt patterns, can i use a split sprocket?

count your teeth NOW, on both the clutch and rear sprocket. for us..

also your tires, 18-20"???

with that aggressive of a tire, its gonna push...somewhat

what do you want out of the kart.. whats your GOAL.. what speed. hill climbs flat pavement, dirt roads???

these things we need to give input on gearing and tire selection,

If you check out american sportworks
http://www.amsportworks.com/ipls.php?cat=gokarts
They took over manco. Also, I believe your axle sprocket is a 54t. You can get a 60t here and drill it to fit your hub.
http://www.gokartgalaxy.com/sprockets_&_sprocket_hubs.htm
Also the cheapest and simplest way to help front grip is just to let some air out of the front tires and pump the backs up a little more so they dont grip as much. I wouldnt want to put any more weight on it since it would make it even slower. But the extra weight in front will definately help. Also, if you want any more power from the engine contact these guys (Assuming is has an ex27 subaru)

They have a cam the can get pricey but improves HP and gives you a LOT more tq. Which is what you need to get you going and over those hills.

Try using dumbell weights. I used 10 lbs to get most of the overstear out of mine but it made the steering a little heavier.

Thanks for all the replys here is a link to some crap cell phone pictures http://s809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/stuffforsale-09/Manco 710e/

Have not had a chance to count sprocket teeth yet. The rear tires are 22" I know putting weight on the front will make it even slower for me but for my 11 and 5yr old its plenty fast. I like the idea of bigger\taller front tires with a more aggressive tred but it looks like they would rub in a turn.
As far as what i want out of the kart is i want it safe for the kids(turn) more torque(not to fast) and be able to pull my fat a**(200lbs) up a hill and not worry if its gona make it!!

looks like a 60 tooth 41 chain.. (guessin by the pic)
does it have a tq converter/jackshaft setup?

if not then you will have longterm trouble with bigger riders..

I suggest a 10:1 ratio if runnin a cent clutch. you have HUGE tires, so you can run a large sprocket..

My boy has this cart. It's pretty simple to work on if you have a set of tools. the front wheels push. They just do.

You can download an exploded schematic at gokartsrus and each part, every washer and all, is identified by a part number

the only gripe I have about this kart is that I can't get the brake to work well. I probably have to replace the caliper and I don't want to get into that again.

My kids ride in the street and often at night so I added super bright LED's to the back.

I put the max 30psi in rear tires and let almost all the air out of the fronts helped alot truns much better now.
We rode it for a couple of hours today, but right before we put it up we started having another problem with the jackshaft\clutch. Didnt get a good look it was getting dark when we where putting it up, but the shaft that the clutch is on is wobbling making the belt and chain ride at a angle. I will get a picture of my jackshaft\clutch set up next time i get a chance, just looking at it i think its the stock set-up.

The bearings on the jackshaft might have gone bad (frozen) and cut into the jackshaft, narrowing and weaking it so that it is bent. It will eventually snap if that is what is happening. This happened on ours and I had to replace the jackshaft and bearings. It is not a difficult job...actually, working on this kart has been rather easy except for when I took the rear axle off. That job required patience.
