I was wondering if someone could shed some insight into the throttle linkages on a Manco 710e. I bought this go kart not running and it seems to be missing some odds and ends. It appears that the cable from the gas pedal would operate the governor and also the mechanical linkage direct to the carb. However when I press the gas pedal the only thing that happens is that the mixer lever (for lack of proper terminology) moves and the throttle stays full open and the governor arm does not move either. I appreciate the help and insight. The engine referenced is an EX27 subaru robin. My assumption is that I have one missing spring and one bad one. Thank you in advance!

With the engine not running, the governor is not working and exerting force on the throttle linkage. As soon as the engine starts, the governor moves the throttle to the current setting, which should be idle for a kart. The throttle (gas pedal, twist grip) is connected directly to the governor on all factory fun machines, you described it correctly.

It is one of those weird quirks I guess. Get that engine running and I suspect it will operate properly.

Thank you for the reply! I was curious why the throttle was %100 open on the carburetor side as well. So as it starts it should move to the idle setting hopefully as you said. I appreciate the insight because I never would have figured that out so it is greatly appreciated. I did a poor job of describing it so Im grateful you took the time to understand! Thank you again!

If you had told me a few years ago that the throttle butterfly was wide open when the engine wasn't running, it would have blown my mind. That's next-level knowledge. 🤯
Well it certainly blew my mind!!

Some 710E manuals just for fun. Landmaster is the now/current company that bought out American Sportworks which was a renamed Manco Products Inc. out of Fort Wayne Indiana. They hold a lot if not most of the old fun kart manuals and documentation but they are divested of anything related to product or product support as I understand it. Landmaster makes UTVs which is pretty amazing if you ask me, instead of having them made in Chynuh and slapping a Landmaster label on them.

I was blown away when l found out any common bug spray will kill 500 species including throttle butterflies!
Does bug spray work as starting fluid? That’s the only reason I can think of for spraying a butterfly….😏
